Jamie Oliver calls it "the easiest and most sensual salad in the world." It's one of my favorite salads. I've known this recipe for many years, and I make it at least once every fig season. It's a perfect, simple and quick appetizer. It also goes great with some fresh baguette for dinner.
To Jamie's recipe I added kiwees, or miniature kiwi (Actinidia arguta), which I discovered not long ago. I don't recommend swapping them for regular kiwi, though, because the mini version is much milder, sweeter and… different :) I didn't include it in the ingredients, since it isn't easy to find.
Sensual fig salad
How to make it: sensual fig salad:
Cut each fig in half, scoring it in a zigzag pattern so the sauce can get into the inside. Wrap each half in a slice of prosciutto and arrange on a flat plate. Place pieces of mozzarella between the figs.
Mix all the sauce ingredients together well. Pour over the salad and serve.
Enjoy!
