These are very tasty, not-too-sweet little pretzels that disappear really fast. They're not the typical store-bought pretzels that taste like bread sticks, though. They taste more like tender, crumbly yeast cookies. So instead of pretzels you can simply make plain round cookies, and they'll be just as good.
This recipe is inspired by Hazo's recipe from Mniammniam.pl.
Instructions:
Dissolve the yeast in the milk and set it aside for a moment. Mix the butter, flour, egg yolks, salt/sugar and sour cream, then add the yeast with the milk. Knead the dough and roll it out thinly. Cut the dough into thin strips and twist them into pretzels or figure eights. You can also cut out shapes with a cookie cutter. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with brown sugar or sesame seeds. Bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Additional info:
I add either salt or sugar to the dough, depending on which kind of pretzels I want. Since I usually make them for the kids, I don't add much of either. You can add more.
