Ingredients

Today I'm starting with a simple recipe that is very easy to adapt to your own needs. You can already find one baked apple recipe on the blog, the one with marzipan. Today's version is much easier and lower in calories, although you couldn't call it diet food.

I think everybody loves baked apples, and I don't need to convince anyone to make them. My kids adore them, and so do I. They are perfect for winter evenings. I highly recommend them :)

Baked Apples with Raisins and Almonds

How to make it - Baked Apples with Raisins and Almonds:

Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).

Carefully cut the core out of each apple. It's best to use a special corer or a small knife for this, but be careful not to cut a hole all the way through. Sprinkle the inside with lemon juice.

Mix the butter, almonds, raisins, cinnamon, lemon juice and powdered sugar, and fill the apples with the mixture. Place them in a baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes (or longer if they are large).

Serve hot.

Enjoy!

Now it's time for the giveaway results.

If you've been following my posts on the blog and on Facebook, you probably know that the person who was drawn in the “pre-Christmas giveaway” never got in touch, despite several emails and calls on the blog and Facebook pages. So I decided to draw again. Having learned from that experience, I'm asking today's winner to contact me and send me an address by Sunday, December 9, 2012. If I don't hear from you, I'll hold another drawing.

And the winner is whiness. You should already have an email from me. Congratulations!

I wish you all a lovely, sunny day :)

The apple looks delicious, with a filling like that it must taste so festive. :) Take care!

Well, I already sent my address :) Thank you once again, it was such a nice surprise.
And today's dessert… It must have been delicious. Baked apples taste wonderful, although mine don't look nearly that pretty ;)

I don't know if you've tried baked apples with cranberries and walnuts, they're delicious too. You make a thick sauce from cranberry syrup and flour, pour it into the apples, and put dried cranberries and walnuts on top. Super easy.

Sounds tempting. You could use a different syrup than cranberry, because I prefer raspberry, strawberry or peach. I guess you could add some dried fruit too.

Of course you can use your favorite syrup and dried fruit.
