Ingredients

Today's recipe, Japanese-style pork rolls stuffed with plum, is a little change of subject, because things have gotten a bit sweet on the blog. The meat lovers and fans of Asian cuisine will be happy! This recipe has been with me for many years. It's one of the first dishes I made from a Jamie Oliver book, and it still shows up in my kitchen.

I love coming back to these rolls because they're not complicated to make, and since they're steamed, they taste light and delicate, yet at the same time they're very aromatic, thanks to the scallions, the plums and the flavorful sauce.

Instructions – Japanese-style pork rolls stuffed with plum:

Peel the ginger and chop it finely.

If necessary, pit the plums and chop them finely. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan, add the star anise, ginger and cloves, and fry briefly. Then add the plums, the sugar and a few tablespoons of water, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes. After that, let it cool and put it in the refrigerator.

Trim the fat off the meat and cut it into 0.5 cm cutlets. Wrap each one in plastic wrap and pound into thin cutlets. Remove the plastic wrap from the meat and lay the cutlets on a baking sheet.

Add half of the chopped cilantro to the sauce and season. Put 1 tablespoon of the sauce in the center of each cutlet and spread it out, then roll them up. Arrange them loosely in a steaming dish or a bamboo basket. Steam for about 10-15 minutes, until the meat is cooked through.

Cut the scallions into thin slivers and arrange half of them on plates. Place the rolls on top, sprinkle with the rest of the cilantro, drizzle with soy sauce and serve.

Enjoy!
