I have a dinner idea for you today. A dinner that is tasty, fairly simple, elegant, out of the ordinary, and a feast for the senses. It's a menu for two, but it works just as well for a small party. This is the menu I made for M. and me as our very belated Valentine's Day dinner. So we celebrated Valentine's Day in March, and we will definitely celebrate it a few (a dozen?) more times this year. Highly recommended.
dinner menu
This dinner can be prepared quickly and without much trouble. I started by making the dessert a few hours ahead. It waited in the fridge for its turn. I also made the sauce for the scallops ahead of time (about 2 hours) and kept it in the fridge. The main course practically makes itself. All that's left is to put together the appetizer and open the wine.
My menu was as follows:
- Grapes in gorgonzola cheese and pistachios – a snack (while waiting for the kids to fall asleep)
- Scallops on cauliflower puree with caper-raisin sauce – first course
- Puff pastry tart with pears and gorgonzola – main course
- Cup with cream cheese and currants – dessert
Today I'm starting with the snack, which is little grape balls in cheese and nuts.
grapes in gorgonzola and nuts
There's really not much work involved. I'm not giving amounts of ingredients, because it depends on your appetite and how many people you're serving. For the two of us I made about 15 grapes and 100-150 g of gorgonzola. I made these balls (on Asia's advice) right before serving, but they are ridiculously easy to make and not much trouble at all. I chose walnuts and pistachios. Asia also suggests toasting the nuts before you start so they stay crunchy. That's especially helpful if you want to prepare the balls a little earlier.
The recipe comes from Kwestia Smaku
Directions:
Crumble the cheese with a fork and coat each grape with it. Pour the nuts into small flat dishes. Stick toothpicks into the grapes and roll each ball in the nuts. Serve.
Enjoy!

This appetizer impressed me the most. You also have a cool little plate – the snail :) A dinner like that must have been a success :)
Oh, I'm so happy that you're coming soon :)
Scallops are probably hard to find here, but everything else is totally doable.
Of course, you can also try out the other dishes on us
I can't wait already :)
great idea :)
Really a brilliant idea. Those little "skewers" are especially tempting :)
