I was supposed to rest today and not write anything, but my dessert yesterday was a really tasty discovery for me and a few people asked me for the recipe, so here I am, writing. I'm so happy that there are people eager to try this delicious dessert.

I don't have much experience with figs. Apart from a salad with prosciutto (oh my, I completely forgot I have to make it again!), I hadn't made anything with figs at all. On their own, raw, I don't like them very much, but once you serve them with a delicious sauce or as a dessert… heaven in your mouth! I recommend it. It's a perfect recipe for a contest, in which I hope I'll get lucky :)

Steffen Henssler, where I spied this recipe, called this dessert "tiramisu on a plate." I like that name, although apart from the mascarpone and espresso it doesn't have much in common with tiramisu. I only regret that I didn't come up with the idea of using cantuccini in this dessert myself. After all, one of my favorite pastimes is dipping cantuccini in coffee and, of course, eating them :)

I worked out the amounts of the ingredients myself, because the author doesn't mention them in the video. And please forgive me that it looks a bit sloppy, but I just couldn't wait to eat it :) By the way, this dessert comes together in no time, so it's perfect when guests are waiting.

And soon there will be another recipe with figs. This time a savory one.

Directions:

Mix the quark and mascarpone together very thoroughly with the sugar (to taste – I used about 2 tbsp) and 2 tbsp of espresso. The sugar should dissolve well. Dip the cantuccini in the coffee for just a moment and arrange them on a plate. Don't soak them for too long, though, or they'll fall apart. Spread the cream over the cookies and put them in the refrigerator for a little while. In the meantime, wash and dry the figs (except for 1), cut them into smaller pieces (with the skin), and then blend them with a blender. You can add a little sugar if they're not sweet enough. Take the cantuccini with the cream out of the refrigerator, pour the blended figs over them, decorate with wedges of the remaining fig, and serve right away. You can also dust with cocoa before serving.

Enjoy!
