My kids really love cooking and baking with me. They often give me ideas for new dishes, and I try to make them happen. Cakes are a little trickier, because it's not always possible to use all the ingredients they come up with.
Louisa loves watching cooking shows, especially the ones for kids. Afterward she tells me what she'd like to eat. For some time now, she's been trying her hand at cooking on her own.

Child's Play Oatmeal Cake
Today I'd like to show you her first cake, which she made almost entirely by herself. I only helped her measure the ingredients and work the oven. That's all.

Child's Play Oatmeal Cake
She and Gabriela loved the cake sooo much, and Louisa was incredibly proud of herself. Maybe it's not an extraordinary cake when it comes to flavor, but it is special because it was made by little hands, with love and care. It's crumbly and sweet, but not too sweet.
Do you cook/bake with your kids?
Instructions – Child's Play Oatmeal Cake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a small baking pan and dust it with flour. Mix all the dough ingredients together and divide the dough into 2 parts. Use one part to cover the bottom of the pan. Finely chop the banana and apple, mix them with the cinnamon, and spread them over the dough. Top with the rest of the dough and put the pan in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes. If you like, you can also dust it with powdered sugar.
Enjoy!
