I've never been to the USA, but Jamie Oliver writes that these pancakes are American-style, and I believe him. Even if it turned out that they're not, it wouldn't matter much, because I love them. They're fluffy and delicate, and, like many of Jamie Oliver's recipes, they're easy to make.
I made mine plain, but I layered them with blueberries stewed with a little brown sugar and drizzled them with maple syrup. Jamie also recommends corn kernels, bacon or pancetta fried until crispy, bananas, stewed apples and grated chocolate. Try them with mango and chocolate, too. Yum! Depending on your taste, they can be big or small, with toppings or without, with savory, spicy toppings or sweet ones.
You can find the original recipe here.
pancakes
Directions:
Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add the flour, baking powder and milk to the yolks and mix until smooth. Beat the egg whites with the salt until stiff. Gently fold them into the yolk mixture.
Heat a skillet, preferably a nonstick one. If needed, add a small amount of oil. Pour a small amount of batter into the skillet, and when it starts to set, add the toppings, then flip the pancake over. Cook until both sides of the pancake are golden brown.
Enjoy!

Oh ladies! You keep saying they're delicious = for sure, but nobody noticed that a little mistake slipped in - for those who grab the recipe and get right to work - well, that's a disaster. "Add the flour to the egg whites..." and then beat the egg whites until stiff.; You have a lot of great recipes
Of course, add the flour etc. to the yolks, not to the whites. Luckily I have attentive readers ;)
