Neighbor's Salad

Long, long ago, when I still lived in Elbląg, my closest neighbor there, Agnieszka, gave me the recipe for this salad. Since we lived "through the wall" from each other, we met almost every day, after a secret signal tapped on the wall. One time, I don't remember the occasion anymore, Agnieszka brought over exactly this salad.

I don't know if the ingredients are exactly the same today as they were back then, because I never wrote the recipe down and I make it from memory, but it tastes just like it did in those days. Maybe it's because of the sweet memories and times that will never come back. Or maybe the salad really is so tasty that it deserves to be remembered and loved? I know one thing: it's light, tasty, filling, and ready in 5 minutes.

Directions:

Cut the leek into thin half-moons, pour boiling water over it, and set it aside. Cut the ham into small, even cubes. Mix together the celery root salad, ham, drained corn, the leek (drained of water), and the sprouts. Add the mayonnaise or yogurt (you can mix both) and season with salt and pepper if needed. At the end, grate the eggs over the top of the salad.
