The time for Advent cookie baking and giving cookies to our loved ones is slowly approaching. While searching through recipes, I got a craving for cookies like these right now, so I decided to get baking. I'm sure these cookies will also find their way into my sweet little gift boxes. There will, of course, be many more cookies in there. You can see some of them, and the upcoming cookie event, HERE (my cookies are at the very bottom :)).
Marzipan Spritz Cookies
Spritz cookies are very easy to make, although piping them took me a while, even though I had a really sweet helper. They taste great plain, but a chocolate glaze or an icing with colorful sprinkles adds some extra charm.
Marzipan Spritz Cookies
If you don't have any marzipan, here is my recipe for homemade marzipan.
Instructions - Marzipan Spritz Cookies
Crumble the marzipan finely. Cream the butter, marzipan and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg yolks and the egg one at a time, then the orange liqueur and the milk. Mix, then add the flour and almonds and mix until you get a fairly loose dough.
Transfer the dough to a piping bag and pipe the cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If the dough is too loose, you can put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the cookies on the second rack from the bottom for about 10-15 minutes, depending on their size. They should only brown slightly, or even not at all.
Decorate the cooled cookies however you like.
Enjoy!
