The day has finally come. The day of changes on the blog. As you can see, everything looks quite different. The main page shows the newest recipes, and the most interesting ones appear in a large format. Categories with subcategories (they expand when you hover over a category) are in the top bar. The most popular recipes, latest comments and tags are on the right side. I hope all of this will make it easier for you to find the right recipe.
The new blog is still being finished, though. There are a few things, technical ones too, that still need to be polished. Work on all of this is ongoing, and I hope I'll quickly get the blog to its final state. I hope you'll feel right at home here. If you have any comments about how the site works or how it looks, please leave them in the comments.
So come visit and let's cook together. To celebrate the new look, there's a cake too. A cream and chocolate cake, tasty and quick to make. It's not too sweet and fits any occasion, even tea with friends. I made it with dark chocolate, which made it very low on sweetness, maybe even too low (even though I like dark chocolate). So I recommend using milk chocolate.
The recipe comes from Ola's website.
Instructions:
Beat the eggs with 2 tbsp of boiling water. Add the sugars and keep beating, then gradually add the flour mixed with the baking powder, mixing on the lowest speed. Divide the batter into 2 parts and add the cocoa to one of them. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 20 cm pan with butter, dust it lightly with flour and bake one part of the batter for about 15 minutes. Then bake the second part and let both cool.
Soak the cranberries in the liquor and a few tablespoons of boiling water. Whip the cream with the powdered sugar until stiff. Set aside 1/3 of the cream, and add the lemon juice and cranberries to the rest (leave a few cranberries for decoration). Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and add the reserved cream. Mix thoroughly.
Soak the dark sponge with the soaking syrup (I mix lemon juice with water and sugar), spread the cream with cranberries over it and cover with the light sponge. Soak it with the syrup too. Cover the whole cake with half of the dark cream. Transfer the remaining cream to a piping bag, decorate the cake with it and top with the cranberries.
Enjoy!

I love cakes like this! A dark sponge soaked in alcohol, two different creams… and that cranberry! I bet it's delicious!
I'd love to eat it right now with my coffee :)
The cake must have been delicious. It's good that Little One can't see it, because he'd send me straight to the kitchen :)
