Hello again after a short break. For some reason it's hard for me to switch back to "normal mode" after coming home. In Vienna, a city ruled by horses, beautiful buildings, stories about Sissi, and coffee with Schlagobers (whipped cream), it was beautiful, hot, and delicious.

Vienna

My stay in this beautiful city lasted only 3 days. It was intense, a "nutshell" visit, with a lot of kilometers in my legs and a lot of coffee and sweets (already in my hips, I think). But since this is a food blog, I won't give you a full account of my trip. I just want to share a few photos from Vienna to show it through my eyes and the eyes of my M. I realize there are still many things I didn't get to see and many dishes I didn't get to try, but I'll go back there someday and catch up.

I hope that in the near future I'll be able to recreate some of the flavors from my trip, because they're worth it.

And now, welcome to Vienna. **Listen and look:**

Hofburg

A small but oh-so-tempting candy shop that I just had to step into. Because of the heat, though, I only gave in to chocolate-covered plums, which I couldn't resist.

[Schloss Schönbrunn](http://www.schoenbrunn.at/) with its beautiful gardens and views. I loved the imperial garden with its citrus trees.

Cafe Central, which has existed (with a few breaks and changes) since 1876. It used to be a meeting place for local artists. Today it attracts mainly tourists, but the people of Vienna meet there too. What did I treat myself to? During my two visits to this cafe I got to enjoy wonderful coffee, Sacher torte, and sponge cake with rhubarb mousse and fruit. M. went for a foam dessert with chocolate. All of it in a lovely atmosphere, with live music in the background and waiters who make sure everyone feels like an important guest, no matter what they're wearing. Why mention clothes? The cafe looks like an elegant place, and it probably would be one if it weren't for the tourists. Maybe the wealthy locals meet there in the evenings. I don't know. But during the day everyone is welcome, no matter what they wear, from Armani to H&M. I recommend it, I recommend it, I recommend it!

[Figlmüller restaurant](http://www.figlmueller.at/index.php) and traditional Viennese schnitzels, which have been prepared there the same way since 1905. The schnitzels are delicious! Thin, large, and crispy. Made from pork tenderloin, pounded very thin, breaded with grated Kaiser roll, and triple-fried. Will I be able to recreate their flavor? I don't know, but I'll try. With the schnitzel I recommend a Spritzer, which I didn't photograph. But I'll probably write about it another time.

Naschmarkt, the market that I unfortunately didn't manage to walk through completely. It's a place where you can buy everything, from clothes to food, spices, and dishes. You can also eat well and cheaply.

Naschmarkt

Naschmarkt – a vinegar stand

A few steps from the Naschmarkt there is a coffee roastery that specializes in organic and Fair Trade coffee. Deeeelicious, and of course a bag of coffee from Nepal became mine.

A few steps further on there is a [sparkling wine bar (Sekt)](http://www.szigeti.at/). All you have to do is sit down, order a glass or a bottle of Salzburg champagne, and enjoy the taste, the weather, and the club music.

And a few more views of Vienna.

Vienna

I hope I managed to capture at least a bit of the atmosphere of this place. I recommend it warmly, and for today I invite you to my next post with a recipe. What will it be for? I don't know yet :)

I was there a few years ago and fell head over heels in love with Vienna! I should add that I've adored Sissi for as long as I can remember, sigh... I'm so jealous of your trip, because I'd love to go back, or even stay there for good… I'm taking the opportunity to invite you to the giveaway on my blog: giveaway with Dilmah – click :) warm regards!

  @tuptusia, I'm glad I pulled it off :) Warm regards :)
@Kasia, it really is a beautiful city and I definitely still have a lot left to see. I hope your dreams come true :) Take care!

It's so beautiful there! Unfortunately I was only passing through Vienna, and I've been promising myself for a long time that I have to go back; it's just that something else always 'comes up'…
  Warm regards!

You really must have been sightseeing in a rush, because for just 3 days you saw a lot. I'm not surprised you didn't have time for Kahlenberg and Grinzing, but at least that gives you a reason to come back to Vienna. I like the atmosphere of this city, I always feel like it's incredibly distinguished – something I never experience in either Paris or Prague.
  Take care :)

Basiku, that's exactly the word I was missing: "distinguished." That's exactly what Vienna is like :) I'm planning to go again, so I'll get to see more :) Take care :)
