## Ingredients

**Dough:**

- 400 g all-purpose flour
- 250 g butter, chilled
- 150 g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tbsp 22% sour cream
- 1 tsp baking powder

**Filling:**

- 2 kg apples
- 1 tsp cinnamon (or more)

**Also:**

- butter and breadcrumbs for preparing the pan

## Instructions

There are few, oh so few apple cakes on my blog, and I love them so much. Time to change that and add something new. This is one of my favorite cakes, and I never get tired of it. You can supposedly buy the szarlotka (Polish apple cake) from today's recipe in one of the cafés in Kraków, which is why I named it Kraków-style. It's a little different from [my favorite apple cake on shortcrust pastry](https://flowers-recipes.com/my-favorite-szarlotka-polish-apple-pie-with-shortcrust-pastry/), but just as delicious. And of course it's filled with plenty of apples, because that's how a szarlotka has to be :)

**Instructions:**

Quickly knead the dough ingredients together, shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for an hour.

Peel the apples, core them and grate them on a box grater using the large holes. Add the cinnamon and sweeten if needed (I didn't add any sugar).

Grease a baking pan with butter and sprinkle it with breadcrumbs. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Divide the chilled dough into 2 parts. Put one of them back in the refrigerator, and roll the other one out thinly and carefully lay it in the pan. Spread the apples over the dough and level them out, then roll out the second part of the dough and place it on top of the apples. Bake for about 50-60 minutes and let cool. Serve cut into squares with whipped cream or ice cream. You can also glaze it.

Enjoy!

Eva, I hope it works out this time :) And why don't your apple pies turn out? Which one doesn't work?

The apple pie is tasty, and even better with whipped cream, it's quick to make, worth trying.
